Great launch of Windows Phone throughout Asia
Windows Phone was launched throughout Asia in the month of Oct. In Taiwan, for example, the launch has generated an enormous momentum with Microsoft’s partners in the mobile industry and broad reach to consumers around the island. Specifically a very successful press event generated much coverage both online and offline.
Applications from ISVs are featured strongly in the launch events.
For example, the launch event in Singapore featured the following applications from ISVs
- ProxiHome : Inspire- Tech
- Autumn Dynasty and Totem Star: Touch Dimensions
- Navi Fone : Agis
- DBS Indulge : Cellcity and DBS
- GV Ticket Booking System : Golden Village
- Piece Hunters : Azukisoft
- Forage : XSago
- Need for Speed : EA Games
- Muvee movie maker : muvee
Some of these applications were also featured in the launches of other countries.
For example, Autumn Dynasty and Flying Chick were shown to the press in Taiwan.
Both applications are prominently featured in Windows Marketplace for Mobile.

TechDays Taiwan
TechEd (TechDays in some countries) is always the definitive event for anyone and everyone interested in Microsoft technologies.
These events typically last for a couple of days and are attended by thousands of developers, IT professionals, anyone who has an interest in technology.
TechDays in Taiwan is no different, stretching across 4 days; it was attended by 4000+ professionals.
Everyone was treated to sessions after sessions of technical updates, new product introductions, announcements. The amount of information shared was sufficient to keep attendees occupied for a long time.
Chris Chin presented a session on Marketplace and was greeted by many developers keen in submitting applications into Windows Marketplace for Mobile.
Attendees were also treated to many of the exciting exhibitions just outside the lecture halls. ISVs from Taiwan that specialized on Windows Mobile development such as mobile104, Soyong and LiveABC were amongst the exhibitors.
There were 2 ISVs that we had selected from Singapore: muvee and ClearHub.
Muvee wowed the crowd with cool video editing software on Windows phone while Clearhub showcased their innovative application that can read any email on any Windows phone.
Both muvee and ClearHub found the exposure useful and would look forward to further such opportunities.

The road show received significant increase amongst the community of Propnex. Do look out for other such road shows to be organized soon.

Remix Singapore
Remix Singapore was held on the 27th August 2009 evening, with an audience of 170+ attendees.
The crowd occupied the auditorium on the 21st floor of our office with some arriving as early as 1 hour before the scheduled start time. The registration took place smoothly and it was clear that many attended Remix for the very first time.
The sessions started promptly with Chris Chin sharing some of the new features for developers found in Windows Mobile 6.5; followed quickly by 3 different developers sharing their experiences in developing applications for Windows Mobile platform.
First developer on stage was from myWobile, who has a social networking LBS application that allows the user to find your friends as well as other points of interests. This was followed by a group of students from ITE who has won the Windows Mobile Development contest with their applications JuggleNuts. Lastly, YiPing from Human Network Labs presented their precise location identification system running on Windows Mobile. This generated a lot of questions from the audience.
I am sure this was an unforgettable night for the ITE students. Their application and presentation was well received by the attendees, making their instructors proud of the hard work and effort that they had put in. While they received assistance from an ISV, Duration Inc., it was clear from the ISV that the students were very independent and creative; always seeking out ways to overcome the obstacles that they faced.
Great work, team ITE! We hope to see more apps from you especially on Marketplace.

29th Aug Japan Marketplace Summit-1
29th Aug, Saturday. The Japan Windows Mobile dev community “Sumaben” organized an event at the Microsoft office to talk about Windows Mobile Marketplace. 50 developers and MVPs took time off their weekend to take part in the event.

Mr. Sakaguchi: Offisnail (MVP)

It was a great event and generated much excitement and buzz around the Windows Mobile Platform. Many are vocal passionate about Windows Mobile Technologies. We strongly believe that this great momentum shall continue beyond the Windows Phone launch in the coming months.
